Hristos (Christos) Kostis

Nationality: Greece

Position: Forward / Winger

Club Career (highlights):

• AEK Athens — Kostis is best known for his time at AEK Athens, where he emerged as a highly promising attacking talent in the mid-1990s. He became a key player for the club, noted for his dribbling, pace and powerful left-footed shot.
• Before AEK, he played for smaller Greek clubs and local youth teams; his breakthrough came after joining AEK’s first team.
• His career was severely affected by a serious knee injury (anterior cruciate ligament) sustained in 1997, which disrupted his progress and prevented him from reaching his full potential. He attempted comebacks and later played for other Greek sides, but never fully regained his pre-injury form.

International Career:

• Kostis represented the Greece national team (senior level) in the 1990s. He earned several caps and was regarded as one of Greece’s most exciting attacking prospects before his injury.

Style of Play and Legacy:

• Kostis was a skillful left-footed winger/forward known for close control, dribbling ability, creativity and a powerful shot from distance.
• Although his top-level career was curtailed by injury, he is still remembered by AEK fans and Greek football followers as a talented player whose peak years were tragically limited.
