David James

David James is an English former professional goalkeeper best known for a long career in the English top flight, including seven seasons with Liverpool.

• Early career: Came through at Watford and made his senior breakthrough there.
• Liverpool (1992–1999): Joined Liverpool in 1992 and spent the bulk of the 1990s as the club’s goalkeeper, playing regularly in the Premier League and domestic cups.
• Later clubs: After Liverpool he went on to play for several other English clubs, including Aston Villa, West Ham United, Manchester City, Portsmouth and others, sustaining a long top‑level career.
• International: A long‑serving England international, James earned more than 50 caps for his country and represented England at major tournaments.
• After playing: After retiring he has worked in media as a pundit and had a spell in coaching/management, notably as head coach of Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League.

James was known for his shot‑stopping, athleticism and longevity in the Premier League, making him one of England’s better‑known goalkeepers of his generation.
