Neil Cox is an English former professional footballer best known for his time in the English top divisions. He began his professional career with Doncaster Rovers and went on to play for clubs including Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough. His spell at Middlesbrough came in the late 1990s/early 2000s, where he made regular Premier League appearances and was valued for his versatility across the back line.
Cox combined defensive solidity with the ability to get forward and contribute crosses; he also chipped in with occasional goals. After retiring from playing he has been involved in football in coaching and related roles.
