Basic known details:

• Nationality: England
• Position: Forward / Striker
• Notable club: Oldham Athletic

Summary career notes:

• Sean McCarthy was an English striker who at some point in his career was on the books at Oldham Athletic. Records of lower-league or short-term appearances for older squads can be limited in major databases.
• Depending on era and competition, his appearances for Oldham may have been in youth, reserve, cup or league fixtures; publicly accessible summary statistics are sparse for some players who had brief or non-first-team careers.

Sources and further research suggestions:

• Check Oldham Athletic club archives, matchday programmes and local newspapers from the relevant seasons for match reports and squad lists.
• Consult football databases and historical record sites such as ENFA (English National Football Archive), Soccerbase, Transfermarkt and 11v11 for any registered senior appearances.
• Local libraries or the British Newspaper Archive can be useful for confirming short-term signings or reserve-team involvement.

If you would like, I can search for more specific data such as seasons, appearance and goal totals, or contemporaneous squadmates if you provide a likely time period.
